The episode opens with Momo wondering aloud what An might have wanted to see him for. Not confident enough to go and see her on his own, he drags Ryouma along. When they meet An, she cheerfully tells them they're going on a date. Inui, who's standing nearby, overhears them and rings up Eiji, who also happens to be nearby.

An brings Momo and Ryouma to the street tennis court, where Kamio is having a match with another tennis player, with Shinji as referee. Kamio is not thrilled at all to see Momo, and Ryouma and Shinji just sort of stare at each other's presence. Meanwhile, Inui and Eiji are following them from a safe distance. Inui calls Kawamura and Ooishi, convincing them that there's going to be a tennis duel between Momo and Ryouma over a girl.

Kamio and Momo are having a shouting match when Mizuki, Yuuta and Yanagisawa appear. The shouting match continues with Mizuki and Yanagisawa sort of wading in. (I like puns. Yay me) Yuuta asks Ryouma to play against him in a match, and this eventually leads to bickering between Shinji and Yuuta.

Ooishi worries that there might be violence at the street tennis court. Inui calls Kaidou, asking him to come over, cryptically adding the words, "it's a date." This alarms Kaidou so much he dithers between going and not going.

Fuji arrives at the street tennis court in the middle of the arguments, breezily ignoring Mizuki. An suggests that they draw strings to determine the matches. Ryouma is paired with Shinji, while Momo is paired with Kamio, to the disgust of the two Fudoumine players.

To everyone's surprise, Momo manages to play well with Kamio, taking point by point from Ryouma and Shinji. When Shinji and Ryouma slyly mention An, however, Kamio remembers that he's supposed to be furious with Momo, and their rhythm together is broken. An gets a call from her brother and rushes off. Inui, Eiji, Kawamura and Ooishi arrive to discover that there hasn't been a fight after all.
